At our Capital Markets Day in April 2025, we unveiled our ambitious strategy to build on our success and realise our vision over the next three years. This strategy is organised around five key themes:
- Strengthening the Core OTA Platform: We will continue to enhance our core booking engine, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience for our customers and hostel partners, further solidifying our position as the leading platform for hostel discovery and booking.
- Building 'Pre-Booking' Social Features: We are developing innovative features like 'Travel Plans', designed to engage users much earlier in their travel journey. These features will accelerate the creation of social profiles and drive app downloads, fuelling our social flywheel before a single bed is booked.
- Leveraging AI for an Enhanced Social Experience: We will embed AI into our pre- and post-booking features to deliver unparalleled personalisation and value. This includes AI-powered recommendations for people to meet, places to go, and things to do, making our social network an indispensable travel companion.
- Expanding our Addressable Market: We will expand our reach and product portfolio through targeted partnerships and M&A. This will allow us to cater to a broader segment of the youth travel market and integrate new, complementary services into our social travel ecosystem.
- Building New Revenue Streams: Our social network is more than an engagement tool; it is a new platform for monetisation. We will develop new revenue streams directly from our social features, creating value for our users and our business in ways that traditional OTAs cannot.

LOCATION🌍
This role is based in Ireland. We have an office hub in Dublin available for those who prefer a hybrid model where you can spend time with colleagues in-person. You will need to be able to commute to our office hub as required from time to time.
WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH 👨🏽🤝👨🏼
The Financial Control team is a dynamic, high performing team that plays a key role in Hostelworld as we safeguard the integrity of Financials. We are responsible for the day to day Finance Operations, Financial Reporting, Control and Compliance across the group. Our HQ is in Dublin and we come together once a week in the office. The office is available 5 days a week, should you wish to use it more frequently.
We are looking for a Financial Accountant, who will report directly into our Finance Manager to lead the integration of a newly acquired entity into our group. There will be full end to end ownership for all areas across the P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow.
WHAT YOU'LL DO 👩💻
Within the Financial Control team, you will:
- Have full ownership of the financial management of one or more legal entities, including but not limited to responsibility for the P&L/Balance Sheet/Cash Flow, reporting analysis and insights.
- Lead the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of financial results in line with internal deadlines and accounting standards.
- Act as main point of contract with the Third-Party Service provider, building strong working relationships to ensure the efficient and accurate delivery of service and help manage the transition away from them.
- Support the design and implementation of financial controls, ensuring compliance with internal policies, accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of statutory accounts and coordination of audit activities, acting as a key point of contact for external auditors.
- Building strong relationships with business owners to provide updates on costs and other areas of focus. Working closely with FP&A to assist in budgeting processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (FP&A, Tax) to ensure alignment of financial data and outputs including but not limited to budgeting, payroll and tax compliance.
- Play a key role in the continuous improvement of finance processes, identifying opportunities to streamline, automate and enhance reporting and control activities.
- Support the preparation of board packs, investor reports, and other management reporting as required.
- Preparation of technical memos on judgemental and/or other areas as required.
- Get involved in ad hoc projects and strategic initiatives, such as systems upgrades, new entity setup or finance transformation work.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR 👀
- Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA with min 1-2 years PQE
- Self-starter with high attention to detail and a can-do attitude
- Ability to work under pressure and to navigate uncertainty/ambiguity
- You take pride in what you do and are motivated by finding solutions to business challenges
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills necessary for regular interaction with senior management
- Driven by an appetite for continuous learning and a growth mindset
